Fiat mulls hot Abarth Topolino in bid to lure younger buyers
Fiat says an Abarth version could add bespoke styling as the Topolino’s average buyer is in their mid-40s, the company said.
- Fiat is considering launching a hot Abarth version of the Topolino quadricycle to attract younger buyers, with European chief Gaetano Thorel stating the firm wants to "gain their hearts" after failing to capture the 16- and 17-year-old demographic.
- While the Topolino is Italy's most successful quadricycle, the average buyer is in their mid-40s; Thorel noted parents prefer the Ligier for 14-year-olds, viewing it as sportier and safer due to its four-wheel design.
- To address this gap, Fiat recently launched the Topolino Sport in Italy, featuring racing stripes, a black interior, and a removable Monsterlino Bluetooth speaker as part of a wider micromobility push.
- CEO Olivier François of Stellantis-owned Fiat called a potential Abarth version "a dream," noting that while L6 regulations restrict performance, the model could provide unique, bespoke styling elements.
- Following enthusiasm from President Donald Trump, who called the vehicles "really cute," the automaker announced the $13,995 EV will arrive in the US, offering a 46-mile range and 19mph top speed.
