Two arrested in NJ terror probe in wake of Michigan Halloween plot
- Federal authorities arrested Tomas Kaan Jimenez-Guzal and Milo Sederat this week in Montclair, New Jersey, with help from the NYPD's Intelligence and Counterterrorism Bureau.
- The complaint says the plot, codenamed 'pumpkin', targeted one or more nightclubs on Halloween, inspired by Pulse and Bataclan attacks, and the suspects planned on behalf of the Islamic State terrorist group.
- Searches yielded multiple firearms and tactical gear, including two shotguns, AR-15 style rifles, four handguns, tactical vests, GoPro cameras, and a storage unit with two tactical backpacks and 24 empty magazines.
- On Monday, federal prosecutors charged Mohmed Ali and Majed Mahmoud with receiving and conspiring to transfer firearms for terrorism, and both are held without bail until at least Monday in federal court in Detroit.
- Investigators say additional accomplices remain under investigation and court dates for Jimenez-Guzal and Sederat were not immediately clear.
