To curb the pollution of the Atoyac River, the federal government, in coordination with the state of Puebla, announced the replacement of 11 abandoned treatment plants in Tlahuapan and Tlalancaleca with a new infrastructure consisting of a regional sanitation network. The plan envisages the construction of five regional plants and a network of 23 kilometers of collectors, with a projected investment of 400 million pesos for this 2026.
