FDA recalls 4.3 million tubes of adult and children's toothpaste
The Class II recalls cover children’s character-themed and flavored varieties after manufacturing deviations, with officials saying serious health risks are unlikely.
- The FDA issued 17 voluntary nationwide recalls for 4,301,700 tubes of toothpaste, including popular children's varieties distributed by Ashtel Studios Inc. of Ontario, California.
- Pritam International Private Limited initiated the recalls on Sept. 10, citing "current good manufacturing practice deviations" as the reason for the nationwide action.
- Recalled items include Brush Buddies Barbie, Hot Wheels, and Crayola Silly Scents toothpastes, with expiration dates ranging from November 2026 through June 2028.
- Federal officials classified the action as a Class II recall, meaning use of the product may cause "temporary or medically reversible health consequences" with remote probability of serious adverse effects.
- Hearst Television contacted the FDA for further clarification regarding the specific manufacturing deviations, but the agency has not yet provided additional comment.
