$40,000 Reward Offered for Info on Fatal Shooting of Congressional Intern in DC
WASHINGTON, D.C., JUL 8 – The FBI and D.C. police are offering a combined $40,000 reward as they investigate a targeted shooting that killed a 21-year-old congressional intern.
- On June 30, the FBI Washington Field Office joined the manhunt after 21-year-old congressional intern Eric Tarpinian-Jachym was shot and died July 1 in the 1200 block of 7th Street NW near Mount Vernon Square.
- According to police, the shooting resulted from an altercation between two groups, with suspects exiting a vehicle and firing, hitting Tarpinian-Jachym unintentionally.
- Investigators found three victims, including the intern and a teen, with ballistic evidence examined by the ATF and the suspect vehicle recovered to bolster the probe.
- Following the shooting, authorities increased the reward to $40,000, with the FBI contributing $15,000 to MPD's $25,000, as the investigation continues.
