FBI captures Top Ten Most Wanted fugitive in Mexico sought over 2016 murder of NC co-worker
Alejandro Rosales Castillo, wanted for a 2016 Charlotte murder, was the fifth FBI Ten Most Wanted fugitive captured since 2025, FBI officials said.
- The FBI Charlotte Field Office announced Saturday the arrest of Alejandro "Alex" Rosales Castillo in Mexico after a long hunt.
- Castillo had been wanted for the 2016 murder of Truc Quan `Sandy` Ly Le and faced a state warrant from November 2, 2016 and a federal warrant from Feb. 10, 2017.
- U.S. and Mexican authorities coordinated via the FBI Law Enforcement Attache Office in Mexico City, Agencia de Investigación Criminal-INTERPOL, and Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana, aided by a $250,000 reward, to locate Castillo.
- He is detained in Mexico City pending extradition to North Carolina, and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Chief Estella D. Patterson said this effort sends a clear message that violent crimes cannot outrun justice.
- Officials noted it is the fifth Ten Most Wanted Fugitive captured under this FBI since last year, with Castillo as the 516th person on the list.
