Pak: Skipper Fatima Sana Sanctioned by ICC over Gesture After Shafali Verma’s Wicket

- Officials cited a breach of Article 2.5, which prohibits gestures that "could provoke an aggressive reaction" from a batter, after Sana gestured toward the pavilion upon dismissing Shafali during India's chase of 56.
- After on-field umpires Nimali Perera and Shathira Jakir Jesy leveled the charge, Fatima admitted the offense and accepted the sanction proposed by match referee Supriya Rani Das, avoiding a formal hearing.
- Marking her second offense within a 24-month period, the penalty adds one demerit point to Fatima's disciplinary record, following a previous incident in Dublin on August 6, 2025.
- India has qualified for Thursday's semi-final as group toppers, while Pakistan prepares to face Hong Kong on Monday evening in their final group game.
