On Wednesday 17 December, the prosecutor's office of the judicial court of Bourg-en-Bresse revealed the findings of the investigation, announced a little before to the family of the two children aged 3 and 5 who were found dead in the rubble. It was their neighbour, whose body was found on 16 December, who opened the gas to commit suicide.

The woman, whose body was found on Tuesday in the rubble, "voluntaryly ended her days by opening the gas in her home," said the prosecutor.
