Fans' 'pain' as influencer and mum dies days after cosmetic surgery

Bianca Dias, a Brazilian influencer and mother, died only 18 days after a $5,400 butt‑lift involving injections, after being taken from her Guaruja beach house to hospital.
Family said she is thought to have died of a pulmonary embolism, a recognised complication of major cosmetic surgeries, with risk highest in the first 48 hours to 20 days after surgery.
Her family said she took a sudden turn for the worse while recovering and later had a 'sudden medical emergency', with reports suggesting anaphylactic shock and fans grieving under pinned Instagram posts.
Her death follows other influencer deaths this year, including Russian influencer Yulia Burtseva who died after a procedure at a Moscow private clinic and had more than 70,000 followers.
A Brazilian butt‑lift involves transferring fat from the belly, hips, lower back, or thighs to the buttocks and carries significant risk of fat embolism, which can block a lung artery and cause respiratory distress.
