Family rescued after becoming stranded in heavy snow in Tasmanian national park
Rescuers walked in to meet the family in Tasmania's Mount Field National Park on Saturday night. They brought food and sleeping bags so the family could safely spend the night in an alpine hut before being flown out by helicopter.

POLICE says six people, including three children, have been safely retrieved from the Mt Field area this morning after being caught in heavy snow overnight. “The family raised the alarm with police shortly after 4.30pm on Saturday, after heavy snowfall meant they could no longer access the walking track,” Tasmania Police search co-ordinator Callum Herbert said.
