Family members have confirmed the identity of the writer and his wife who died in an accident near the Coachella Valley.

Relatives of LA Times writer and reporter Dennis McDougal confirmed the death of his wife, who were injured in a car accident on the 10 Freeway, 30 minutes from Coachella. The journalist's sister posted on social media that her brother and sister-in-law were traveling in their car and tried to avoid a vehicle that crashed, but were struck by a distracted man's car.
