Family Friendly Monster Mash coming June 27
A well-known legend in Sheridan County states that during the 1920s, settlers first saw the Walgren Lake monster. Details of what the monster looks like vary from a giant alligator to an unusually large beaver to a huge mudpuppy or catfish. Although the name of the lake has changed from Alkali Lake to Walgren, the story persists, and the people of Hay Springs continue to pay homage to it with their annual Monster Mash.
