Aston Villa Gets Garnacho on Loan From Chelsea Days After Record Sale of Rogers
Alejandro Garnacho has struggled for form at Chelsea, with 12 goal contributions in 43 appearances, before a loan move to Villa that could turn permanent.
Aston Villa secured a season-long loan for Alejandro Garnacho from Chelsea on Wednesday. The 22-year-old completed a medical in Birmingham to finalize the move.
Driven by Aston Villa manager Unai Emery, the move follows Garnacho's disappointing debut season at Chelsea. The Argentine managed only 12 goal contributions in 43 appearances after joining the Blues from Manchester United for £40m last summer.
A conditional obligation to buy clause will trigger a four-year contract if appearance conditions are met next summer. Chelsea set an asking price of £43m, with terms understood to be easily achievable.
The deal follows Morgan Rogers' move from Villa to Chelsea, confirmed on Tuesday. Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso permitted Garnacho to miss pre-season training to secure his departure from west London.
Aston Villa has spent nearly £100m on transfers this summer, including signings like Johan Manzambi and Joao Gomes. Youri Tielemans departed last week after Manchester United triggered his £35m release clause.
