40 injured in Czech residential building fire

An electric scooter probably caused an explosion and subsequent fire in an apartment in a prefabricated house in Ostrava on Wednesday afternoon. A woman, who was in the apartment on the seventh floor at the time, escaped the flames by climbing a lightning rod. About four dozen tenants were evacuated by firefighters and police. The firefighters have now managed to extinguish the fire.
