LSEG Negotiates $3.5 Billion Purchase of Octus; Regulatory Approval Required
The deal could expand LSEG’s data business and private credit tools, and the company said no final agreement has been reached.
On Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the London Stock Exchange Group confirmed ongoing talks with private equity owner Permira to purchase credit intelligence provider Octus for approximately $3.5 billion.
Permira has been planning a sale of Octus since last year, seeking a buyer after acquiring the firm from Warburg Pincus in 2022 at a $1.3 billion valuation.
Founded in 2013, Octus employs more than 250 analysts and journalists producing over 60,000 stories annually, covering more than 6,600 companies across credit markets globally.
LSEG described Octus's tools as complementary to its existing fixed-income analytics and private markets offerings, potentially expanding its data business into private credit workflows.
Regulatory approval is required for any transaction, and LSEG cautioned that no final agreement exists; meanwhile, LSEG shares fell 4.7% by 13:42 GMT on Tuesday.
