In a draft letter obtained by the media Euractiv, it is learned that Italy and Denmark are planning to get other European countries in order to push for a redefinition of the ECHR's tasks, which, in their view, would have encroached too much on their room for manoeuvre, particularly with regard to immigration.

Denmark and Italy are preparing a letter to the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). According to the countries, the court goes ‘too far’ in protecting illegal migrants. As a result, member states are less able to monitor their borders.
