Coronation Street Actress to Return for Third Stint on Soap After 9-Year Gap
The Bolton-born actress will play a new character as she returns for a third stint, with her role being kept under wraps.
Bolton-Born actress Emma Matthews will return to Coronation Street for a third stint in a new role, nearly a decade after her last appearance on the ITV soap.
Matthews previously appeared as a nurse at Weatherfield General Hospital between 2012 and 2015, then played social worker Fiona Crowley in 2017 who took Abi Webster's twins into care.
Balancing her acting career with academic pursuits, the actress currently stars in the West End production of Billionaire Boy at the Garrick Theatre while studying a Master's qualification in Theatre Directing.
While Matthews joins the cast, Claire Sweeney has left Coronation Street after three years on the soap, recently revealing she was "in total denial" about leaving the Dobbs house.
Following her exit from the ITV soap, Sweeney is set to take on the role of Miss Hannigan in the UK tour of the musical Annie as her next project.
