Manitoba RCMP re-arrest Inky Mark, charge him with 26 new offences
RCMP say investigators recovered 445 firearms and 26.5 kilograms of explosives from Mark’s home, adding charges that bring his total to 38.
- Former Member of Parliament Inky Mark, 78, faces 38 charges following a months-long RCMP investigation into alleged firearms trafficking in Dauphin. The charges stem from extensive police seizures at his home.
- Investigators seized 445 firearms, 26.5 kilograms of explosives, and more than $300,000 in cash from the Dauphin residence during the search last month. The explosives quantity exceeded legal limits by more than four times.
- Of the 445 firearms, 295 were improperly stored and 10 were prohibited. Another 11 restricted or prohibited firearms were not registered to Mark, with some stored alongside readily available ammunition.
- Police allege Mark provided a firearm and ammunition to a friend unprompted after a social media complaint about a coyote on their property. The weapon was not used and has since been recovered.
- Mark was re-arrested on Aug. 12 and charged with 26 additional offences, including weapons trafficking and unauthorized possession of prohibited firearms. Two firearms registered to Mark remain unaccounted for by authorities.
