Even with Jordan Mason's return, will Vikings trade for RB?
The Vikings will explore backfield upgrades before the trade deadline as Jordan Mason returns from injured reserve and Aaron Jones carries the load.
Minnesota Vikings running back Jordan Mason returned to practice this week after spending the past month on injured reserve, rejoining Aaron Jones in the team's rushing attack.
Offensive coordinator Wes Phillips noted that while Jones performed admirably, his heavy workload of 85 carries over the past month was not sustainable, necessitating Mason's return to the rotation.
In the season opener against the Green Bay Packers, Mason recorded 15 carries for 59 yards while Jones tallied 12 carries for 40 yards, establishing the complementary rotation plan.
Head coach Kevin O'Connell said the Vikings will be pragmatic at the trade deadline: "If there's a chance for us to improve our team, we're going to have those conversations."
Potential trade targets include Saquon Barkley from the Philadelphia Eagles, Jonathan Taylor from the Indianapolis Colts, or Tony Pollard from the Tennessee Titans, depending on draft capital availability.
