The EU wants to become independent from Russian nuclear imports, but for now it can only produce the fuel for Russian-type power plants with the help of Rosatom. The European design is being prepared, but it is not known when it will become a reality, and in the meantime, it is useless to contract with the French manufacturer when it also works based on a recipe purchased from the Russians.
