- Since last July, the anti-graft body has been investigating alleged misappropriation of European funds by Identity and Democracy between 2019 and 2024, before the group dissolved after the 2024 elections.
- Jean-Paul Garraud, a National Rally MEP, stated the searches targeted "the offices of former ID staff members." The Patriots group insisted it is "not involved in the ongoing investigation."
- Under The Parliament's rules, a political group is treated as "the successor" of a dissolved one and liable for remaining debt, potentially making the Patriots responsible for more than €4 million.
