Eurogroup welcomes Bulgaria’s progress towards adopting the euro

Bulgaria is ready to join the eurozone, which is presented as an almost natural development – with little to no public debate about what it would really mean for people's living standards.

Bulgaria wants to become part of the eurozone in 2026 and on Friday adopted a budget that complies with EU budget rules. This year, Bulgaria provides for a new debt of 3 per cent of GDP and was adopted by Parliament with 145 out of 240 votes.
