The European Commission said on Thursday, 20 August, that the European Union's (EU) gas reserves are currently at 62%, claiming that the picture is stable and that there is no risk for the winter. At a press conference in Brussels, European Commission spokesman Eva Hrncirova acknowledged that, this year, gas reserves are being supplied in Europe in a slower way than usual, but has ruled out reasons for concern.
The supply is slower than usual, with the war in Iran diverting LNG to Asia, but the Commission spokesman says the situation is "stable".
