The European Parliament and the Council of the EU today reached an agreement in principle on simplifying the mechanism for an additional import duty on products with a high carbon footprint, which will, among other things, exempt small importers from these rules. This is part of the Commission's first omnibus legislative proposal aimed at cutting red tape for European businesses.
