The European Parliament calls on the European Commission and the EU Member States to better protect the European external borders, including by allocating additional funds for infrastructure at the external borders. This could include fences. In addition, the EU border guard agency Frontex must be given more capacity, the Parliament states in a declaration adopted on Thursday with 339 votes in favour and 225 against.
