The government has agreed on an initial proposal for how to distribute the support from the next long-term EU budget that will contribute to Estonia's development. According to the decision, in addition to economic competitiveness, EU support should be used more for the benefit of Estonia's security.

The controversial distribution of funds for the new EU budget period has now been agreed upon by the government and the plan is generally in place. While Estonia's 200 ministers previously complained that money was being taken away from their areas, Finance Minister Jürgen Ligi disagrees.
