Per Narvinger Appointed New President and CEO of Ericsson as Börje Ekholm Steps Down
Per Narvinger will take over on Oct. 1, while Börje Ekholm stays on as executive adviser until June 15, 2027, the company said.
- On Tuesday, Ericsson announced that Executive Vice President Per Narvinger will become President and CEO on October 1, 2026, succeeding Börje Ekholm, who is retiring after nine years at the helm.
- Ekholm will step down on September 30, 2026, and remain as an executive advisor to the new CEO until June 15, 2027, ensuring an orderly succession the Board has carefully planned.
- Narvinger, who joined Ericsson in 1997, described the appointment as a "great honor," noting the company is leading in "advanced connectivity solutions" during this "pivotal time in our industry."
- Chair Jan Carlson praised Ekholm's "extraordinary leadership" and strategic advancements, while Ekholm stated he "turned Ericsson around" since stepping in as CEO in 2017.
- Ericsson shares rose 0.6% on Tuesday and are up 26% year-to-date, as the company pivots toward the "physical AI era" under new leadership to strengthen its global position.
