Epic Universe's next stage for growth has begun
Universal Orlando is adding Captain Cacao meet-and-greets and limited-edition anniversary merchandise as leaders say the park still has room to grow.
On Friday, Universal Epic Universe marked its one-year anniversary, celebrating a $7.7 billion debut that brought four roller coasters and five immersive lands to Central Florida.
Universal Orlando Resort officials designed the park to establish the resort as a full-week destination, generating $44 billion in overall economic impact, including $2 billion in 2026.
The park's attractions have drawn millions, including nearly 4 million riders on the Battle at the Ministry and over 500,000 sales of the PB and J pork belly bacon jam mac and cheese cone.
Operations faced challenges including the September death of 32-year-old Kevin Rodriguez Zavala on the Stardust Racers coaster, while Epic Universe General Manager Jeff Polk said the team manages capacity to balance demand.
Permits filed for a 150,000-square-foot building near the Wizarding World of Harry Potter and ongoing testing of open entry into Celestial Park indicate future growth remains on the horizon.
