Enhanced fluorescence technique illuminates rapid, coordinated protein folding

A team of US researchers has gained new insights into how large protein molecules consistently fold themselves into useful shapes. Using a new approach to fluorescence microscopy, Hoi Sung Chung and colleagues at the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases have shown that the process likely occurs through the coordinated folding of many different parts of each biomolecule.
