KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Knoxville Mayor Indya Kincannon's proposal to increase the local option sales tax to fund infrastructure improvements and affordable housing was rejected Tuesday by city voters in the general election. Elmore County voters have overwhelmingly voted no to the Enhance Elmore tax plan. With nearly 97% of the votes counted, unofficial results show 93% of voters said no to raising taxes, compared to 6.5% who voted yes. The raw vote total was 12,038 no votes to 843 yes votes.
