'We dare to dream': Tuchel says England are ready for World Cup
Thomas Tuchel said England can still dream of the title, but he pointed to a 60-year wait since their last World Cup win.
On Tuesday, England manager Thomas Tuchel told reporters in Florida that his team are not favorites for the FIFA World Cup, citing the nation's six-decade title drought since 1966.
Most bookmakers consider England title contenders, but Tuchel noted the six-decade drought weighs against them; he likened their quest to a player without a title competing at Wimbledon.
The German, drawing on his Champions League experience, emphasized approaching the tournament with discipline; Tuchel insisted the squad is in good shape and can "dare to dream" of lifting the trophy.
England kick off their campaign on June 17 in Dallas against Croatia, a repeat of the 2018 World Cup semi-final, while preparing for their final warm-up in Florida against Costa Rica.
Once the group stage concludes, Tuchel believes the team can advance far; he advised players to avoid overthinking, stating, "It's important not to try to digest this whole tournament in one piece.
