Emmerdale and Coronation Street set for big schedule changes on ITV next week
Viewers will face a disrupted soap schedule as ITV moves episodes around England matches, with some nights cancelled and Friday episodes extended.
ITV is adjusting broadcast schedules for Emmerdale and Coronation Street next week to accommodate the Men's and Women's World Cup and European Qualifiers, with viewers expecting disrupted viewing patterns as football matches take precedence.
Sporting events frequently force schedule shifts for these soaps, which normally air back-to-back on weeknights; previous disruptions included matches between England and Spain, as well as England versus Uruguay earlier this year.
Both soaps air normally on Sunday June 7 and Monday June 8, but will not air Tuesday June 9 due to England's Women's World Cup Qualifier against Ukraine, returning Wednesday June 10 before skipping Thursday June 11.
On Friday June 12, ITV will air one-hour specials for both Emmerdale at 8pm and Coronation Street at 9pm. The Instagram account for Coronation Street previously warned fans of potential schedule disruptions over coming weeks.
Further programming changes accommodate England's final warmup game against Costa Rica at the Inter Stadium in Orlando, Florida, part of a broader football schedule including the Men's and Women's World Cup tournaments.
