Emma Raducanu Faces New Wimbledon Blow After Injury Concern Emerges
Raducanu has reached a Queen's Club final but now faces an injury concern as she prepares for a tough draw at Wimbledon.
On Wednesday, Emma Raducanu sparked concern after being spotted wearing an orthopedic boot at the All England Club; however, representative Thomas Houchin stated she is "absolutely fine" and will play.
This setback follows her recent run to the Queen's Club final against Donna Vekic, amid a stop-start season that included a two-and-a-half month absence due to post-viral illness earlier this year.
Coach Andrew Richardson, who guided her 2021 US Open triumph, advised Raducanu to "worry more about being in the right position to have a run at a tournament" rather than rankings.
Seeded for Wimbledon, which begins June 29, Raducanu reached the third round at SW19 last year and aims to progress beyond the fourth round in London for the first time.
Former coach Mark Petchey described her situation as "unique," noting the difficulty of being judged weekly on a 2021 fairy tale result; he suggested she could enjoy a long career by avoiding shortcuts.
