A state sales tax holiday will kick off this weekend for emergency supplies to prepare residents for severe weather such as fires, floods and tornadoes. Eligible items can be purchased tax free during the holiday that will be held from Saturday, April 26 through Monday, April 28.

Tax holiday weekend for emergency supplies

April 26-28 will be a statewide sales tax holiday for emergency preparation supplies, according to the state comptroller’s office. The sales tax holiday begins at 12:01 a.m. Saturday and ends at midnight on Monday, April 28. Approved by the Texas Legislature in 2015, the holiday allows sales tax-free purchase of household batteries, fuel containers, and flashlights under $75, hurricane shelters and emergency ladders under $300, and portable gene…
