Richest Man In The World Elon Musk Is Obsessively Complaining About Lupita Nyong'o Being Cast In 'The Odyssey'
Musk said Nolan is changing characters’ races to win awards and amplified posts mocking Lupita Nyong’o and Elliot Page.
Elon Musk criticized writer-director Christopher Nolan on Wednesday for casting Lupita Nyong and Elliot Page in The Odyssey, alleging that Nolan chose Nyong because "he wants the awards."
A new Time profile May 12 confirmed Lupita Nyong will play Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra, roles that sparked backlash from Musk and conservative commentator Matt Walsh, who claimed the casting contradicts Homer's description of Helen as "fair skinned, blonde, and" "the face that launched a thousand ships."
Musk also mocked unconfirmed rumors that Page plays Achilles, sharing AI-generated images that ridiculed the actor. Page, who previously worked with Nolan on Inception, has not confirmed the role.
Whoopi Goldberg defended the casting on View's Hot Topics segment, telling critics to "look in a mirror" and stating, "Lupita is also considered one of the world's most beautiful women."
The Odyssey, an adaptation of Homer's epic poem about Odysseus and his journey home after the Trojan War, premieres July 17, 2026. The ensemble cast includes Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway despite ongoing online criticism.
