ELNA Medical Group, a Montreal-based company that bills itself as Canada's largest network of medical clinics, has entered creditor protection. The move raised questions about the future of the company and the services it provides patients.
This network of some 50 clinics in Quebec, and where 500 general practitioners work, is sheltered from its creditors, which worries thousands of patients.
After having interrupted the construction of two clinics for lack of money, the ELNA Medical group is sheltering itself from its creditors. Associations of general practitioners are preparing for the worst and are contacting clinics near forty establishments to find out how many professionals could relocate there in the event of closures. Approximately 500 doctors work at ELNA in Quebec.
