Who Is Elijah Just? Meet the New Zealand Standout Who Scored Two World Cup Goals vs. Iran
Elijah Just became New Zealand’s top World Cup scorer with a brace set up by Chris Wood, and the All Whites drew 2-2 with Iran.
On Monday, New Zealand drew 2-2 with Iran at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, with forward Elijah Just scoring twice in the World Cup match.
The All Whites showed little stage fright in their first World Cup appearance in 16 years, securing a point despite the physically and politically charged atmosphere.
Just volleyed the opening goal from inside the box and later hammered home a second, with Nottingham Forest striker Chris Wood assisting both of the 26-year-old's finishes.
The Iranian team insisted they were searching for "peace, joy" and victory at the tournament following the draw.
With his brace, Just became New Zealand's top World Cup scorer, positioning Oceania's representatives to fancy their chances at reaching the knockout stage for the first time.
