The electronic patient file can be used throughout Germany after a test phase from the end of the month.

It is intended to accompany insured persons for a lifetime and has so far been tested in three model regions. At the beginning of October, it will become mandatory in art practices and clinics.

From May onwards, medical professionals and health-insurance professionals can view and manage treatment data in an app to help avoid expensive double diagnoses.

From the end of April, the electronic patient file should start nationwide. However, the legal obligation for practices and other institutions only applies later. (Electronic patient file, data protection)
