Elding Goal Cancelled Out, Celtic Fight Back to Beat Hibs
Celtic defeated Hibernian 2-1 at Easter Road on Thursday, restoring their four-point cushion over Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Hibernian took an early lead through Ireland international Owen Elding in the third minute, but Jason Kerr conceded an own goal shortly after, marking a third consecutive defeat for manager Marink Reedijk.
Camilo Duran scored the winning goal in the 43rd minute, driving a 17-yard strike past goalkeeper Raphael Sallinger as Storm Boelo hampered play throughout.
Late in the second half, the Hibernian manager pushed center-back Grant Hanley into the attack for the closing eight minutes, while Celtic substitute Alistair Johnston was forced off after just 20 minutes due to injury.
Hibernian remain at the foot of the Scottish Premiership following the defeat; yet the Easter Road crowd applauded the team off the pitch, signaling a potential shift in supporter sentiment.
