El-Rufai accuses NSA Ribadu of acquiring 'dangerous toxic chemicals' from Poland

  • On Sunday, Malam Nasir El-Rufai asked the Office of the National Security Adviser to clarify reports that ONSA imported approximately 10 kilograms of thallium sulphate from Poland.
  • Concerned about public safety, El-Rufai said thallium salts are highly toxic and requested details on oversight by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control , Nigeria Centre for Disease Control , and public-health and environmental agencies.
  • El-Rufai alleges the procurement involved approximately 10 kilograms of thallium sulphate from a supplier in Poland and requests details on the supplier, permit, form, and storage arrangements.
  • El-Rufai demanded urgent clarification and has vowed to appear before the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Monday after an invitation, following reactions to his comment about tapping Ribadu’s telephone and his Thursday claim that Ribadu masterminded an arrest attempt at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
  • Framing the issue in civic terms, he argued that public confidence in national institutions strengthens when potential risks are openly addressed and managed.
