Man Charged In Fatal Self-Inflicted Shooting Of 13-Year-Old
- On Thursday, March 27, Irvine police responded to a home on Heathergreen and Weepingwood around 2:42 p.m. After receiving a report of a juvenile suffering from a gunshot wound, where they found an injured eighth-grade boy who attended Southlake Middle School.
- The incident occurred when the boy, who did not live at the home but was visiting a friend, came in contact with an unsecured firearm in a bedroom, which then went off.
- Despite life-saving measures, the boy died shortly after the incident from what detectives believe was a self-inflicted gunshot wound, though it remains under investigation whether the injury was intentional or accidental.
- 56-Year-Old Christian Douglas Yeager was arrested Thursday night and booked into Orange County Jail on suspicion of child endangerment and criminal storage of a firearm, as detectives found multiple unsecured firearms in the room and the boys were aware of the weapons in the bedroom.
