Egyptian researcher Laila Soueif put an end to a hunger strike she had been on for ten months to demand the release of her son, Alaa Abdel-Fattah, an Egyptian-British activist imprisoned, announced her family on Monday 14 July.
Dave Kissoondoyal decided to stop his hunger strike on Tuesday 15 July after 11 days of protest. He took this decision for health reasons and family reasons.
