Incredible new £775m museum will be twice as big as the Louvre when it opens

The Grand Museum Cairo took 20 years to build but will open in July. It will showcase a vast array of Egyptian history.

After a record entry figures in the previous year, Egypt is picking up further increases for this year. As a visitor magnet, the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM), which went into operation with a soft opening in October 2024, is used.
