Editorial: Stay atop HECO’s wildfire plan, costs | Honolulu Star-Advertiser

Hawaiian Electric’s updated Wildfire Safety Strategy (WSS) has been approved by the Public Utilities Commission (PUC). This greenlights the utility to seek funding, expand community partnerships and continue working to reduce risks of wildfires sparked by equipment or operations — and it’s an overall positive for the state, though careful analysis also should continue on whether the investor-owned public utility model best serves Hawaii.
