Ed Sheeran to Fund New Youth Centre in Framlingham
The planned centre would serve children aged 0-18 and include art studios, rehearsal rooms and a public gym, with full funding already in place.
Singer-Songwriter Ed Sheeran plans to fund a new youth center, dubbed Fram Fam, in his hometown of Framlingham, Suffolk, through the Framlingham Foundation Trust. The facility aims to replace an existing youth club closing next month after 20 years of operation.
Framlingham Area Youth Action Partnership announced last month it is closing after 23 years, creating a gap in local youth provision. Sheeran's project seeks to fill this vacancy by providing a multi-functional space for children aged 0-18 years.
Planning documents submitted to East Suffolk Council confirm the proposed facility will "replace and significantly enhance" current offerings. The site, owned by Framlingham Sports Club, will include an art studio, library, rehearsal spaces, and a gym open to the public.
A source revealed the new charity will be managed by local individuals, including some of Sheeran's former schoolmates with community work experience. The application states proposals "have huge community benefits" and notes full funding is in place.
Subject to a positive determination from local planners, works could commence on site in spring/summer 2026. This initiative continues the singer's history of charity work, including past donations to his former school, Thomas Mills High School and Sixth Form.
