Ecuadoran authorities said Saturday they had deported hundreds of Colombian prisoners via a land border crossing, after Bogota protested that the move came without prior agreement.
In the midst of diplomatic tensions between Ecuador and Colombia, after the first, unilaterally, decided to initiate the process of deportation of 603 Colombian citizens in that country's prisons, the Government of Colombia receives the nationals in a coordinated operation headed by the Foreign Ministry.

Colombian authorities claim that the decision of the President of Ecuador, Daniel Noboa, was “unilateral” and ignored repeated requests to design a joint protocol.
