Compared to salaries, renting an apartment in Budapest is the most expensive among the studied European cities. It is practically as difficult to maintain an apartment in the capital alone as trying to do it in New York.
Renting an apartment in Budapest has become the most expensive in relation to income, the Economist wrote. According to a survey of 35 cities, London and Geneva have the highest income and Ankara the lowest income for comfortable living alone, while Budapest and Lisbon were the least affordable compared to average earnings, while several cities in Germany stand out for their favorable rates.
