Earthquake with magnitude of 2.2 in Groningen: “Non-natural cause”

There was a slight increase in the number of damage reports at the Groningen Mining Damage Institute (IMG) on Thursday. After the 2.2 earthquake near the Groningen town of Usquert, 171 claims for compensation were received. On a normal Thursday, that is an average of 150, as the IMG saw last year.

An earthquake occurred near Usquert during the night from Wednesday to Thursday. According to the KNMI, it had a magnitude of 2.2 on the Richter scale and occurred at a depth of 3 kilometers.
