Eagles' Saquon Barkley Returns to Practice; Could Play Against Cowboys
On Thursday, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley returned to practice for the first time since October 2, putting him on track to play Monday night against the Dallas Cowboys, according to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo.
Barkley has been sidelined since suffering a hamstring injury during a 24-20 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on October 4. The Eagles' rushing offense, which ranks 29th at 82.2 yards per game, has deteriorated during his two-game absence.
Eagles coach Nick Sirianni expressed optimism, stating, "Anytime you have an opportunity to get someone like him back on the field, that's huge." Barkley averaged 5.1 yards per carry across four appearances before the injury struck.
With quarterback Jalen Hurts out for the year, Philadelphia currently sits at 2-4 and is averaging 255.5 yards per game offensively. Barkley's return offers critical support to an offense operating without its star signal-caller.
Trade speculation linking Barkley to the Minnesota Vikings persists despite his contract through 2028. Analysts suggest Minnesota could be a logical landing spot if the Eagles retool, though his $35 million dead cap figure presents a significant hurdle.
