Legendary Cowboys DB Cornell Green Dies at 86
Green never missed a game in 13 seasons and later earned NFL Scout of the Year in 2010.
On Wednesday, the Dallas Cowboys announced that Cowboys Legend Cornell Green died at age 86, though the team did not reveal a cause of death.
A key member of the famed Doomsday Defense, Green earned five Pro Bowl invitations during his stellar 13-season career with the Cowboys, never missing a game.
The Utah State basketball standout bypassed a 1962 NBA Draft selection by the Chicago Zephyrs to join the Cowboys' training camp despite only one year of high school football.
Green helped the Cowboys win Super Bowl VI and later transitioned to scouting, earning NFL Scout of the Year honors with the Denver Broncos in 2010.
Tied for fifth in team history with 34 career interceptions, Green was honored on the Cowboys' 25th Anniversary Team, a legacy spanning 52 years after his 1974 retirement.
